The sky over Sewerby Fields, in Bridlington, is set to be awash with colourful kites as part of a two-day festival, hosted by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Northern Kite Group.
The event will see displays from a number of internationally-renowned experts as well as Traditional Fairground Rides and a Food Village, with plenty of local produce on offer to create the perfect picnic.
Displays will include some of the world’s largest inflatable kites flown by professional flyers, there will also be a chance for members of the public, particularly children, to have a go at flying some of the kites (loaned and supervised in the display arena).
After the success of the event in 2018, the Internationally supported BACKFIRE ‘Race the Waves’ will return to Bridlington this summer.
This is a nostalgic motoring event, where cars and motorcycles perform straightline drag-style runs over a 1/8 mile of the South Beach at Bridlington. A family friendly fun event for all ages.
ArtWaves is back for 2019, taking over Bridlington’s signature venue Bridlington Spa and further afield for its fifth year on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June 2019 with an additional fringe programme running from Monday 17 June.
This year is set to be the biggest visual art showcase yet, bringing traditional, digital, contemporary and urban art through a vibrant programme curated for all; from the experienced artist to those simply looking to get creative.
The programme will see the highly anticipated return of artists from previous ArtWaves alongside an elective mix of new artists to create the festival line up. There will be demonstrations from award winning artists, masterclasses, workshops, installations, live street art, sand art, an open air painting competition and much more.
